Group Health Coaching

Group Coaching – it’s better together!

Harnessing the power of community within schools can lead to group members, whether they are adults or children, feeling more motivated and empowered to make sustainable behaviour changes with valuable support every step of the way to achieving better health outcomes now and longer term.

Research shows that joining a group coaching programme can have the following benefits. Participants can expect to:

  • make new connections and develop a support system
  • share feelings with others and gain new perspectives
  • learn from collective wisdom and experiences
  • achieve goals more easily
  • celebrate successes together
  • receive great value for their investment of time and money

Group Coaching can be effectively delivered through a series of weekly or fortnightly after school sessions for staff. These may follow on from an audit or an Inset Day Workshop that has identified particular needs within the school around staff health and well-being that need to be addressed. Group Coaching would be a perfect springboard to 1:1 coaching. Ideal for anyone who needs a continuation of support for a longer length of time, with a more personalised approach, coaching and a plan that is specifically tailored to them reaching their own individual health goals with accountability.

Pupils would gain great advantages in terms of social interactions and genuine, empathetic peer support by being coached alongside their peers. This would work particularly well for target groups of pupils, such as those who are frequently absent from school or who have the pressure and responsibility of living with a health condition or those who are struggling with sleep issues which affects their behaviour and productivity in school. Again, this could lead onto 1:1 coaching for those pupils needing that extra time, attention and support to reach their optimal state of health and well-being.

Group Coaching would also be very effective for parents and carers who have the best intentions when it comes to their family’s health and well-being but feel overwhelmed and just don’t know where to start. They perhaps know what they should/shouldn’t be doing when it comes to things like ultra processed foods and screen time but they need practical help and advice to actually start making the changes they want to make that will benefit the whole family’s physical and mental health, whilst feeling less overwhelmed and alone in their quest. I can also run parental/family workshops in your school on various health related matters.

There are a number of exciting and flexible opportunities available to schools when it comes to integrating Health Coaching so please get in touch to discuss your school’s unique needs and desired outcomes.

Intrigued to know how it could help your school community?

Read what some of the school staff I recently coached have to say about their experience of attending 6 after school Group Health Coaching sessions with me:

“This has been so good in giving us time to reflect on what we do that is not helping us reach our goals and what we can do to establish habits that get us to where we want to be. Really positive sessions!”

“I’m drinking more water and less juice or fizzy pop, which has helped with my headaches. I’m taking less paracetamol every day.”

“I am making better food choices and increasing the variety of fruit and vegetables that I am eating.”

“I am incorporating 15 minutes dancing which clocks up over 2000 steps and is really fun to do.”

“I am planning and organising walks with my sister. It keeps me accountable and more likely to go than if I plan a walk on my own. It’s good to socialise and chat, we don’t realise how far we are walking.”

“I am managing longer daily dog walks as I have more energy.”

“I am enjoying more physical activities with my daughter because I have the energy to keep up with her now!”

“I have more energy. I feel more productive and positive. Even my family have noticed I am happier and in a better mood.”

The positive ripple effect throughout the school community and on these participant’s home and family life was evident after just 6 sessions! All participants reported improved sleep and energy levels. Their stress levels were noticeably reduced and they all rated their overall sense of well-being higher after taking part in group coaching.
