Research shows we want better health but the majority of us are overwhelmed with information about what we ‘should’ be doing about our diets and lifestyle. Health Coaching is a great solution for this. Often we KNOW what to do and what not to do. We have the information at our fingertips on Google. We have the prescription, the medication and the list of what to do. We don’t just need more information or to be told what to do. We need to be able to really UNDERSTAND that complex information and process what it actually means for us.
When we are confused the ‘shutters can go down’ and this is quite often the case when we consider that the average reading age of adults in the UK is 9 years old. Giving information is NOT enough. We need to build people’s Health Literacy from a young age and allow them the time and space to have a conversation and ask questions without being confined to a 10 minute doctor’s appointment that leaves people wondering:
- Where do I start?
- How do I start?
- How do I keep going?
- I feel like I want to change…but I don’t have support around me.
Working with a Health Coach makes it much easier to make lifestyle changes. With one to one support, the focus is on YOU.
- Your coach partners with you as a guide, supporting you to empower yourself to create your own personal roadmap to whole health and wellness. You will move from where you are now to where you want to be at a pace that suits you.
- You will learn to cultivate and sustain lifestyle and behaviour change in small, manageable steps as you gain the power, the information and the support to make the decisions and be the expert in your own life.
- You will learn to create the health you’ve always wanted and the confidence to manage or prevent health conditions. You will experience what it feels like to be your BEST SELF and you will notice this has a profound and positive ripple effect among your family, your workplace and within your community.
1:1 Health Coaching involves personalised care tailored towards your individual health needs and comprises of the following:
- Initial 90 minute Health History
- Follow up 60 minute 1:1 coaching sessions truly setting you up for success in taking action towards achieving your health goals with effective coaching strategies that facilitate behaviour change as you implement healthier habits to optimise your health.
- Personal Coaching Plan provided, and adapted when necessary, plus ongoing support and resources as you continue on your journey towards better health to sustain the positive changes you make for the longterm.
Schools are encouraged to start by offering Group Coaching Programmes to their staff and pupils to include more of their community whilst taking advantage of this value for money option. This helps to identify the individuals who may need extra support to continue progressing towards their own goals and making positive, sustainable changes in their physical health and mental well-being with additional 1:1 sessions.
